About This 1910 Dutch Colonial For Free In Lincoln Kansas

Large and historic home in Lincoln, KS, must be moved to a new location to be saved from demolition! Built in approx. 1910, this beautiful 2,023 sq. ft. Dutch Colonial house is in MUCH better condition than the street view would suggest. The first floor has a large living room with fireplace, parlor, dining room, kitchen and bathroom. A wood staircase with half-round window leads to the second floor with 3 large bedrooms and a bathroom. The entire house has enough woodwork to make anyone swoon with wood floors and all oak and pine trim is in original condition.

The house is solid and has been occupied up until a few years ago. A tour of the interior would prove the house is far from requiring demolition. The biggest issue is with the existing stone foundation which would be solved with the house moved to another location and placed on a new foundation. The exterior needs work but a new owner could still live in the house and tackle exterior improvements in phases if needed.

The property is owned by the Lincoln County Hospital & Healthcare Foundation (LCHHF). While they appreciate the history and beauty of the house the large lot is slated for future use by the hospital located across the street.

An informal committee is working to save the house and has until the end of 2022 to move the house or it will likely be demolished soon thereafter. The committee would like to find a new owner within the next few months so a foundation can be built and the move can be scheduled before the end of the year. A house moving company with experience in historic homes has toured the house and sees no issues regarding moving the house. The LCHHF will remove the tree and clear all brush in preparation for the house moving.
