What the seller loves about this home
Visit www.344mansion.com for more information and full photo set! Charles Lock was the son of David Ross Locke, better known as the pen name ‘Petroleum V. Nasby’, a famous Civil War Era humorist, author, and founder of the Toledo Blade newspaper. Charles and Evangeline Locke came to Hollis in the early 1900’s, and their first summer was spent in Old Orchard. They fell in love with Maine and decided to settle here, where Evangeline had relatives.
Mr. Locke purchased a large parcel of land in Hollis and built a magnificent estate in this wilderness. The exterior of the Locke Mansion is a striking three stories high with the frame built of field stone containing mica from the nearby countryside and highlighted with a brick finish. The front of the home contains a stunning porch extending the entire length, curving to each side, and highlighted with a copper roof. The Locke Mansion is truly one of the most elegant homes in all of Maine. Call or text listing agent Derek Goff for a showing: 207-542-7563.
