About This 1898 Mansion In Wayne Pennsylvania

Designed by William Price in 1895, this 1898 Mansion For Sale In Wayne Pennsylvania exudes unparalleled elegance and grace. Expertly renovated, modernized and expanded in 2016 by KingsHaven Design and John Milner Architects, this home sits on a two-acre private landscaped estate, and is a short walk to Wayne and Radnor Middle School. Enter into a grand two story foyer with exposed beams, fireplace, 20 foot ceilings and immediately feel engrossed in old world charm.

Directly to the right of the entrance is the library with built in bookcases and fireplace that leads to the library annex/office. Behind the foyer is the living room with radiant flooring for cold nights, as well, as, large floor to ceiling windows for an abundance of natural light and a beautiful view of the backyard. To the left of the foyer is dining and family rooms, both with their own fireplace. The family room’s fireplace is gas and can be easily turned on and off by the click of a button. Off of the dining room is the butlers pantry with built in wine cooler.

The newly expanded luxury kitchen has an island and eat-in kitchen area. The white custom cabinets and Calacatta marble slabs contrast against the kitchen’s stainless steel accents. The kitchen comes with a Wolf dual fuel range, double ovens, Subzero refrigerator, and Bosch dishwashers. Access through the kitchen leads to the outdoor patio and fireplace with wolf gas grill and stainless cabinet for entertaining on summer nights. Next to the kitchen is a breakfast room for family meals with its built in cabinetry and bench for a rustic farm feel.

The 2nd floor features 6 bedrooms and 4 full baths. The master suite comes with a gas fireplace, 2 walk in closets, private terrace, full bath with soaking tub and shower as well as an additional sitting room/loft located on the third floor by access of a spiral staircase. Each additional bedroom has it’s own uniqueness whether it be built in cabinets, walk in closets, a private bath,or a terrace over looking the property. The 2nd floor also includes a large laundry room with granite counter tops and two energy efficient washer and dryers.

On the 3rd floor an additional 7th bedroom can be found in addition to the loft for the master and a large storage area in between the rooms. The home also offers a recently built attached 3 car garage that leads into a oversized mudroom with storage for all seasons. Lastly, the partially finished basement features space perfect for a home gym.

  1. Class and classic. I like it for its room-to-room coherence, devoid of faddish “decorating.” Gives it a simple unity, a theme that is more masculine than feminine, I suppose.

  2. This part of suburban Philly is full of spectacular mansions like this. In a more desirable part of the country they’d sell for three or four times as much money. This one shows very well.
