About This 1848 Gothic Revival Fixer Upper In Rhode Island
Longfield, once one of the most elegant houses in Bristol, is a rare example of the American Wooden Gothic Revival Style built to perfection in 1848. Listed on the National Register in 1972 because of its importance architecturally and socially, it needs a total rehabilitation now.
Originally designed by RI’s premier architect of the day, Russell Warren, for Charles Dana Gibson (the grandfather of the famous artist and namesake) and his bride Abby DeWolf, it is located on just over 1 acre of land set back from Hope Street. It is not-so-patiently waiting for a person with vision and passion to bring it back to life.
